3/23/05: FLATLAND is certified AutoCAD 2006 compatible. This new version of AutoCAD brings some interesting new features to the table. I encourage users to look seriously at upgrading.

A mystery solved: Since the release of our last build, some users have reported that arrowheads on leaders are mysteriously changing into "Archtick" blocks after the drawing has been saved and reopened. My thanks to Rich Gran at HCP Architects in Albany, New York for helping to uncover the cause. After some days of head scratching over this problem, Rich noticed that the problem only occured when he was saving his work to the Release 14 format. R14 does not support the more recent AutoCAD setvar DimLdrBlk. Later versions of AutoCAD use this variable to store the name of the specified arrowhead block name. I'll be working to program around this problem.

SuperWall Introduced: After years of steady use, FLATLAND's Wall1 has been replaced by a new floor planning tool called SuperWall. The new function, which is a "from the ground up" new approach, sports the ability to create complex walls including cavity walls, etc. Additionally, walls are embedded with extended entity data which identifies the wall components. Using that information, SuperWall is equipped with a Match Properties button which allows users to select an existing wall from their plan and adopt all of it's properties.

Doors and Storefronts Updated: In keeping with the Window update mentioned below, FLATLAND's doors and storefronts have now been updated to include Integrated Command Interfaces which will allow users to setup parameters for a given opening and then draw the item in either plan or elevation. Both function include a Match Properties button which will extract all of the properties from a selected block for reuse.
FLATLAND's Door Editor has also been updated to handle these changes.
Everyone can do me a favor and email bug reports if they encounter any unusual behavior from these commands.

New Windows Introduced: As of 5/20/02, FLATLAND is sporting a newly rewritten window function called (you guessed it!) Window. The new command replaces older separate window plan and elevation functions.
By consolidating the plan and elevation views under a single interface, you can now do things like select a plan view block and extract the properties for the elevation view. Also incorporated into the new function is a complete window editor which allows adjustments to both the plan and elevation views.

FLATLAND Fix List Introduced: In the interest of keeping everyone up to date on the latest new features and bug fixes, this site now sports the new FLATLAND Fix List, a chronological log of everything I do to FLATLAND. Click the Fix List icon above to check it out.

Run at the front of the pack: Users everywhere can be sure they're getting the most from FLATLAND by checking their build date. If you're not running the most recent version of FLATLAND, you may be missing new improvements and bug fixes. You can download updates from the registered user area of this site. Email me for a password. As always, updates are free.
To verify your build date, type FLVER at the AutoCAD command prompt. You may have to open your text window (F2), but FLATLAND should return a date or build number.

Eureka!
It's about time! After about a year in development, I've finally implemented a kind of beta version of FLATLAND 's new stair routine, StairMeister. The current version is still short several planned handrail types but even in it's current state it does more than FLATLAND's old stair commands. The plan and section controls are consolidated under a single interface. This command is available in the newest demo version and the update build available on this site in the Registered User area.
Download an update...It's really pretty cool.
The current build number is: 061302 which was created 6/13/02

Flash! The FLATLAND Tutorial Get's a Face Lift!
4/1/02 After years of neglect (well, it seems like years) the FLATLAND Tutorial got a good going over recently. All graphics have been redone for better on screen clarity. Also included are a number of "popup" screen shots. Users who haven't tried the tutorial should take a few minutes and try it out...it sheds considerable light on how FLATLAND really works.
The FLATLAND User's Handbook will be getting the same work-over soon. This is all part of a move to make all of FLATLAND's documentation available electronically. Those users who don't already have a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader© should visit www.adobe.com and download a copy.
The FLATLAND Tutorial and FLATLAND User's Handbook can be downloaded free from the Registered User area of this site.
